Dr. Veronique Seidel is an associate professor
(senior lecturer) with 30 years’ research and teaching experience in
Pharmacognosy/Natural Products Chemistry. She currently works at the
Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS), University
of Strathclyde in Glasgow, United Kingdom. She graduated in Biomedical Sciences
and in Pharmacy from the University of Lille (1993 and 1995, respectively),
then obtained her PhD in Phytochemistry from the University of Strathclyde in
Glasgow (1999). She worked as a teaching and research assistant in
Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lille (1997-1998), a
research fellow in Phytochemistry at the School of Pharmacy, De Montfort
University, Leicester (1999-2001), and a research fellow in Microbiology at the
School of Pharmacy, University of London (2001-2003). Her scientific work
focusses on the discovery of small molecules from medicinal plants and other
natural sources such as products from the beehive that may serve as templates
for the development of new pharmaceuticals and cosmeceuticals. Dr Veronique
Seidel is a recipient of the Life Sciences Prize (2000) and the Parke-Davis
Natural Products Chemistry Prize (1996) delivered by the French Academy of
Pharmacy.
